More about Shadow
Shadow, Benjamin Moore's 2017 Color of the Year, is a deep, smoky amethyst — a purple with so much gray and depth (LRV 8) that it reads as a sophisticated near-neutral rather than a bold violet. It brings drama and a velvety quality to bedrooms, dining rooms, and accent walls.
Purple is the most lighting-sensitive family in paint: Shadow can pull more mauve under warm bulbs and more blue-violet in daylight, so sampling at several times of day is essential. It pairs with brass, deep wood, and soft whites. Behr Extravagance and Sherwin-Williams Quixotic Plum are its closest cross-brand matches.
